Symposium held during InterSymp 2008 in Baden-Baden Germany on July 24-30.

The transformational forces that are driving the need for more intelligent and useful information management environments are related to: 1. progessively scarer huma resources; 2. economic pressures that necessitate more integrated and tighter fiscal control; 3. increased need for timely proactive planning and decision-making in commercial and government enterprises; 4. greater emphasis on flexibility and adaptability; 5. increased expectations of accuracy; and 6. overriding necessity for a high degree of interoperability to ensure the consideration of all relevant aspects of a particular problem solving situation.

Particular topics of interest for this Focus Symposium on Intelligent Software Tools and Services includem but are not limited to:

1. Servic Oriented Architecture (SOA) software environments
2. Sematic web services environments
3. Virtual Reality (VR) environments
4. Interoperability challenges and solution approaches
5. Information modelling and the representation of semantics
6. Multi-Agent systems in theory and practice

Technical paper submissions are invites on these and related topics describing past and current research efforts, as well as experience with proof-of-concept, prototype and operational systems.
